Borrowers of student loans can’t seem to catch a break. As of July 1, 2013, the interest rate for the Federal Stafford Loan to help pay for college has doubled. In addition, the Budget Control Act of 2011, also known as sequestration, forced Congress to drastically cut spending in education and other domestic programs.
